It’s been a crazy few days of work. I had one couple who wanted what I call landscape welfare plan: getting an expensive design for a much cheaper price simply because we are in a recession and they can’t afford paying full price. It would be like someone walked into a designer clothing store and said “I want that $10,000 dress but since I can’t afford it you should give it to me for $5,000. Then I can afford it and I want it so that’s what you should to do make me happy.” This couple made me redo the bid so many times that at the end of three days I had a stack 2″ tall of rejected paper that I had used to print bids, and reprint…and reprint…etc, until they were happy. Hippies everywhere cried when they heard how many trees I killed to make these people happy.
That aside…things are picking up in the design studio and this week I got three new design agreements!!! YAY! I’m excited to say the least. And today I received a contract that will fulfill my desire to do native, sustainable landscape design. The lady told me to get rid of all the grass I could (she has a spetic field so no luck there) and design a native-plant based, low water landscape plan. WOOHOO! This is my kind of project.
Life is starting to pick up. I have adjusted to living this side of graduation. My friend base has grown a bit and the group has solidified. This means I am actually getting out on Friday nights and having a good time. I’ve also started doing some work at church and joined a Bible study so that weeknights don’t find me sitting around only studying LEED and doing nothing to help others. I must say, due to these developments, life is getting pretty good!
Peace and Blessings!
