Below I am posting a note that my friend Chris wrote and posted on facebook. This note has sparked an interesting “discussion” on facebook. The note has three parts to it. First there are paragraphs with no brackets or stars. These paragraphs are part of the original note Chris wrote and posted. Then there are paragraphs that have a * by them. These are the comments one of Chris’ liberal friends added to the note (he copied Chris’ note and posted the comments below each point). The paragraphs in brakets are Chris’ responses to the comments.
It’s long but very much worth reading.
Re: The Logical Take on the State of Things
So I posted a note on facebook about 2 weeks ago explaining a few things in this upcoming election. As I had hoped I received some great arguments for and against it. The * sections are the feedback that I received and they follow what I had written in my previous note. Below the * section are my new [bracketed] notes to counter argue. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond but a number of events came up and I kind of wrote a lot. Enjoy.
*A news clip that makes me wonder about voting for this person.

Equally so.]
Okay so I have to take this time to explain a bit about the current political situation and the race that will be happening in the coming months. This will not just be a venting session but rather one, which I will state some truths and points of which I think are important to know and understand before November 2nd.
First and foremost I have to address the Sarah Palin smear that is taking place right now. Sarah Palin is a Governor who has completely turned around the state of Alaska from a corrupt and dishonest government,
*(Troopergate? Bridge to nowhere (which Palin is still working to build with federal earmarks)? Road to nowhere?)
[“Troopergate”? Seriously? Check the actual facts on this “controversy” not just what democrat and liberal investigators desperately want you to believe. Please read this article in its entirety.
http://ridgeliner7.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/governor-palin-and-that-trooper-investigation-a-full-disclosure/
No matter how you slice it the truth is set in stone; it’s easy to split it up and splice certain bits to form to the liking of ones opinion, but when it come down to it it’s a lie. The alleged man who was “fired” was not actually fired but just removed from his one position, by Governor Palin, and placed in another, still working for Governor Palin, where his skills would be better used. The state trooper that is in question is on record for several threats to Palin’ family, namely her father, and for using a tazer on an 11 year-old boy, his stepson. Needless to say he is a very upstanding man we are talking about who happens to still be on the force. Regretful.
http://www.adn.com/politics/story/476430.html
Now regarding the “bridge to nowhere” that seems to be a favorite among the media and democrat voters these days. If you look up the full story you will find that the bridge funding was started by Governor Murkowski who was exposed by Governor Palin for corruption. Murkowski was a Republican who was corrupt, and Palin brought him down. That is something that Obama wont and hasn’t done ever. This being stated Palin killed the Ketchican bridge project and diverted the money to several other infrastructure projects within the state of Alaska. She is however currently working, with many others, to increase ferry service to the island. So in regards to your video that was posted earlier they falsely represented her current role. Just to set the record straight, annually 300,000 people cross by ferry and float plane in order to reach the international airport that is on the other side. This means that the impression that the media has created in your mind of just 50 people using it is completely false. Ketchican is actually the port for north bound cruise ship access which brings around 1 million people annually to the area. You could ague that this bridge would help the town and surrounding area develop but the cost would still be high.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003897011_webbridge22.html
Now you might say that she requested earmarks to the bill it was being passed in order to receive the funding, but only Members of Congress are permitted to do so, which was done by Senator Ted Stevens. I hear so many democrats touting this “bridge to nowhere” story and wonder if they even know that Obama and Biden were both supporters of the bridge who voted for its approval even though Senator Tom Coburn suggested shifting the earmarked funds towards Katrina relief efforts. Senator John McCain is noted for voting down the earmarked Ketchican bridge project. This is yet another reason McCain will be a great President because of his track record for defeating earmarks.

to one that is run very efficiently and in the greatest interest of its citizens. A number of reasons Sarah Palin is a candidate that I and everyone should endorse are listed below
-Palin is an upstanding woman.
*This is an opinion not a fact…
[Ok you got me on one since there is currently not an upstanding scale we have access to. I have a hunch, scientific term here, that these “scandals will play out to be nothing therefore placing her above Obama, Biden, and McCain in terms of sketchy issues.]
-She has been married 20 years + to the same man.
*I don’t see how this is relevant, but Obama has been married 16 years and Biden has been married for 31 years. Oh, but Biden has been married twice. Is it okay to remarry if your first wife dies? Let’s look at McCain…
[Well it is relevant to me, see “reasons Sarah Palin is a candidate that I” endorse. I see it as a testament that she has been able to work through marriage and family conflicts that always arise. I don’t see a problem with marrying twice as long as your other dies or has committed adultery, but we are all people and are far from perfect.]
-A mother of 5 children.
*Obama has 2 children, still fail to see how this is relevant.
[Again still relevant to me and many others out there, namely mothers, of whom I am not, obviously. Read above statement about her marriage. I pretty much can use it here as well. I am beginning to understand that you have to have cold hard facts to determine if a person is considered upstanding. I on the other hand look at both facts, upbringing, friends, outlook on life, and family importance when I make up my mind about someone I would like to lead out country and represent myself to the rest of the world. A prime example would be my assessment of Bill Clinton. There are many other political reasons I don’t like the man but a large part of what I see in him is a womanizer, cheat, liar, deceiver, and manipulator. I, personally, can’t respect a person such as himself. I know you might have a different opinion than me and I am fine with that. That’s just how I see it.]
-The single person who turned Alaska’s government around and in the right direction.
*She placed a tax on oil companies to generate revenues, which is a great idea… one that Obama supports and McCain does not. But while mayor she left Wasilla 22 million dollars in debt and inappropriately used funds for redecorating.
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/09/17/palin_mayor/
[That web site is one of the most biased and unfair that I have come across. Come on and just take a look at all of their political articles. Not a single one about any controversy or actual issue with Obama. This site slams the conservatives in every way they can going as far to call them small town, white trash, mobile home dwellers, feeble bible believers. That is a site that HATES conservative voters. Please don’t get any of your news from here and try to use it a strong argument. Now on with the 22 million issue. One thing you might want to know about business is that it takes money to make money. In other words in order for her to improve services in Wasilla and to create an extremely business friendly town she had to spend money on certain improvements. These investments are paid off over time through revenue and sales taxes. Take highways and roads for example, our tax money is used to fund massive multi million dollar contracts in order to build a new highway or city road. For a few years it may seem as if they lay desolate but after more often than not they end up creating new places for businesses. These businesses hire more people thus creating a demand for workers in the area. This brings more people into an area with a need for housing, energy, food, etc. and they also pay taxes on what they buy and make. This money gets circulated back into the economy and government thus creating a stronger backbone. This is the case with almost every growing city, government, industry, corporation, and business.
Just a side note for the redecorating, the person who made that accusation stated that he no longer had any of the files to back up his claim. For such a highly talked about redecorating you would think there might be something to help it hold ground. Maybe we should switch to the controversy of her selling the Governors private jet and using the funds elsewhere where they were needed. Oh wait, that’s good news and we don’t deserve to hear that. Oops…]
-Understands the oil issues that congress faces because she has dealt with them many times before and comes from/led one of the greatest oil states in the US.
*The issue is that we are getting our oil from other countries, not that it is in our backyard. How does this possibly prepare her for anything when we need to get off foreign oil and start working towards new energy sources?!?
[Yes that is an issue, but another very large issue is the ban on extracting our own oil. Just to let you know, the shale oil in the Colorado area is estimated to contain more oil that Saudi Arabia. Yep I guess we don’t have much oil here in America. Obama has no experience in oil besides what he and his democrat friends have fought over for 7 years in not passing an Energy bill. Oh wait they just did and it tied up all of that shale oil and trillions of barrels of oil in Alaska as well as kept the ban on offshore drilling. That’s why we don’t have domestic oil quantities that are sufficient for our thirst for the stuff.
Side note: If you have ever visited an offshore drilling rig you will see the vast quantities of sea life that have made rigs their ecosystem. There are species of fish that migrate to oil rigs. Environmentalists ramble about the potential environmental effects of them but that happens very rarely. They create massive micro-ecosystems in the ocean that sustain millions of fish that would otherwise not survive in the expansive empty blue ocean. They do more good than bad.
Okay now back to it. We are not going to quit using oil overnight or over 10+ years. The fact is we need it and it runs our economy to a large degree affecting the price of all goods. I agree that alternate and renewable sources of energy are necessary and healthy but both McCain and Palin have pledged to push those efforts. Truth is that most all of America agrees with this so you can be certain that they are not going to just ignore the energy issues. The just passed hack job of an energy bill actually bans new clean coal, nuclear, and by mandating clean energy requirements rather quickly will undoubtedly cause more than a few energy companies to go bottom up in expenses for getting these things started. You and I both know that solar is not economical unless it is subsidized, by our taxes, or its technology advanced enough to cut the cost of solar panels in half. It has good intentions but also uses a vast amount of energy to produce, which some would argue outweigh its good.]
-An active advocate for children and people with disabilities, because she has her own 2-year-old son with downs syndrome.
*She has a five month old and I think it is great that she would advocate for him …This link begs to differ this claim though. Vetoed funding for special Olympics? “Has not been a strong voice for our cause”…. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jBnTwv5zwHprqcaX9lpeKgxf4M3QD932LS0O1
http://thepoliticalpendulum.wordpress.com/2008/09/15/parents-of-children-with-disabilities-read-this-before-you-vote/
[Sorry Five months is correct. Palin did raise the funding for disabilities in many ways. Read this article and you will see.
http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2008/09/sarah-palin-raised-special-education.html
A major thing she did do, in my opinion and what I was talking about, is to actually bring the issue up in a speech that was heard around the world and throughout congress. Disabilities advocacy is not strong in Washington DC, and by Palin bringing up this issue it created a great “open door” for disabilities advocated to get their foot into. Alaska did pass a bill that increased state funding for children with disabilities by nearly 300% to $73,840 per child till age 21. Although Palin did not draft the bill she was involved in its passing so that does mean something.]
-A shining example for education reform seeing that she understands it, since her children are currently in public school.
*She advocates teaching intelligent design in school?
[What is wrong with teaching intelligent design in public schools? Evolution, no matter how you say it or what you find, is NOT proven to be true. Does it hurt you to possibly consider or have others consider something different than what you think? Funny since I was under the impression that democrats and liberals were the true acceptors or others views. Open-minded? Does that ring a bell? I mean that’s at least what they all say. See attached quote where Palin states her view on the teaching of creationism; “I don’t think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum,” Palin told the Anchorage Daily News in a 2006 interview. If you still want to argue this I really can’t go on. The media and the Obama campaign twisted this one toward the view that they prefer to project about Palin. I learned about evolution and the “big bang” and how they believe all life was created from gasses that were struck by lightening and I don’t argue it because it is one theory about life. Some believe it and I don’t have a problem with it, although I think otherwise. Creationism is a theory as well but just as valid, unless you want to shut down all those with Christian beliefs and run like Big Brother.
http://ridgeliner7.wordpress.com/2008/09/05/top-7-myths-lies-and-untruths-about-sarah-palin/
This site has many great articles loaded with a lot of information that you will not find in the mass media. We all know why. This site also has many links to “official” articles from news sources to back this up. They are too numerous to list so click the link and scroll to the bottom of the page. There is no excuse not to. The teaching of creationism is one thing that has always bothered me. In high school I believed in evolution and the “big bang” but always had my doubts because of the lack of transition fossils. I still believed it until I was introduced to something later on. In our science classes we discussed creationism and it did not offend me and cause me to cry home to my mom.]
-Actually increased the per-student spending in education for all children in the state of Alaska all the while cutting taxes.
*By 4%, just enough to keep up with inflation…
[Again read this article.
http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2008/09/sarah-palin-raised-special-education.html
Yes she did not raise it much but she did raise it. She has promised to do so if in office and I am curious if she would do the same if she were to stay the Alaska Governor. My argument is not strong here so one for you. Finally! I failed to consider inflation in my judgment]
-Cut taxes in Alaska, and her hometown, by creating more revenue through sales tax and in return was able to lower property taxes.
*She cut property taxes while raising sales taxes which benefit businesses more than individuals. Despite this she still left the town 22 MILLION dollars in debt when it was nearly debt free when she took office.
[I already covered this in a previous statement. More money in the public’s hands means more spending which equals more sales tax, which is income for the government. Most of the time it takes money to make money so this debt is part of that. While she was Governor she did not run up any substantial debt because she had the taxes from the oil companies that operated in Alaska. This would be a case of already having the money. Alaska traditionally has a well-funded budget because of their tax set up. She increased oil taxes by ~2.5% which does not hurt the oil companies because of their profit margin but was able to supply enough money to get the job done, while allowing oil companies to still remain highly profitable.]
-An inspirational speaker who doesn’t need a teleprompter to connect to her audience at all. You all know the individual who I am talking about.
*She does use a teleprompter and recycles the same speech over and over. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/04/palin-overcame-teleprompter-problems-missing-hard-copies/
[Did you read this article that you posted? Please look at it again and read what it says. This perfectly proves my point. I also didn’t say that she never used a teleprompter. I said that she doesn’t need one to connect to her audience at all. You and many others are reading into my words and not correctly reflecting what I said. Here is the text from the article that is above.
“Sarah Palin electrified the Republican convention Wednesday, all the while reading off a faulty teleprompter and an outdated draft, John McCain officials told FOX News on Thursday.
The Alaska governor overcame several glitches and technical problems to deliver her speech without getting flustered, impressing McCain and his staff and allowing them to breathe a sigh of relief.
Foremost of the obstacles, Palin’s teleprompter was not working properly. When she took the podium, the machine rolled so quickly, it often skipped the first line or two of every paragraph on screen. The operator said he had new equipment and wasn’t sure how it would work.
However, Palin also went on stage with a slightly outdated hard copy of her speech. For various unexplained reasons, she and her closest advisers had an old draft on hand, and even had a hard time furnishing one of those for her to use. Several of the drafts were scribbled on, so one aide gave Palin a wrinkled, folded copy out of his pocket.
Officials said Palin responded in mom-like fashion, concluding, “Well, I suppose I could put a book on it and smooth it out a little. “
During one part of her speech, she couldn’t see the teleprompter because signs were blocking it. That was when she ad-libbed a line about the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull — “lipstick.”
The line was a hit with the audience. It is something she had jokingly said to staff during the speech prep process.”
Here are a few videos of the typical Obama stumble that has happened many times.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDJSVPAx8xc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GaU-ExYm30&feature=related
When Obama doesn’t have a teleprompter he, time and again, can’t deliver a smooth speech. Now I am not saying that that’s a reason to not vote for him, it’s just a reason I would vote with confidence for Palin. She doesn’t say “um” near as much as Obama and has very little trouble giving a speech when there is a technical glitch.]
-Has a son going into war so you know that she is not just going to send everyone to war just because she is a republican and “doesn’t care about the common man.”
*Joe Biden also has a son going to war.
[True. Good observation, although I was referring to the fact that most democrats constantly tell me that Republicans just start wars and send us all to it. The draft! The draft! If one more person says that I might just flip over backwards.
I also need to take time to address another comment, I found particularly rude and inappropriate, that was left on your note by someone else. Here is what was written:
“NICE commentary, I concur, factcheck.org = best.website.ever
can i add that she is a detriment to wildlife...this is from a site that I regularly donate to:
possibly totally irrelevant, but on her son going to Iraq: since he was a big fan of, you know, mainlining oxycontin, and thats usually frowned upon by the law, esp when caught...it wasnt so much that he made the choice to go to Iraq, but a kind of he HAD to, it was either that or do some time in the big house...really nice family”
Just so I don’t go off about this I will take it in its order.
-A detriment to wildlife? If you even understood the positive impact that hunting has on the animal population you would feel very stupid for saying this. There are other allegations out there about her being anti-fish. In every one of these cases that I found it would have only effected a small population of salmon and not be detrimental to their species as a whole in any way. I fish and hunt regularly and do so in a respectful manner so I can talk to you all day about this and how the organizations that I belong to and donate hundred and sometimes thousands of dollars to do more good than yours. SCI is currently restoring African species of antelope that were nearly killed out due to civil war and exploitation in that country. That’s just one example.
-Wolves. You have no idea, since you have never experienced the issue, about the impact that wolves have on animal populations, both wild and domestic. Since the reintroduction of wolves many species have declined steadily. In B.C. the mountain caribou numbers were on a sharp decline and the area that I just got back from has, just in the past 10 years, seen an increase in their heard numbers. This is directly attributed to the wolf trapping that the local trappers have been performing in the area. This information is from the biologists in that area directly.
-Now on to one of my biggest problems with this comment. You should never, no matter what, attack the children of someone. If you have a reason to, it better be damn good and you should have an issue with them that affects you. Unless you get your news from the National Enquirer, which most all of America knows is not true, how would you know about this Oxy allegation? That is the only source that has reported it without any evidence whatsoever. The following bolded comments are only directed at the individual that made the above post.
Do you seriously use the NE as a source of valid news?
Are you an idiot?
How can you live with yourself?
Please don’t ever speak up on political or gossip issues ever again. You are the exact person that I was talking about when I said that you were the greatest disease in America today! Ignorance is not bliss my ill informed ignorant friend.
How would his false use of Oxy affect you anyways? He wont be running the White House so why should he matter? You are more than welcome to praise children and parents but when you tear them apart you are the lowest. By the way, how did the Bush twins controversy affect anyone in our country? Not a bit.
The Palin’ are a really nice family, contrary to what you stated. I don’t care if they even do have problems because ALL families have them. It’s part of life! That makes them even more normal and to just see how they stick together after all that has ACTUALLY happened to them is inspiring. That’s all I care to say for now.
Steve none of this last part should ever be thought of as being directed at you, the same goes for this entire write up. I respect you as a friend too much to say stuff like this. I just want to have a good constructive conversation. Hope you take it that way.]
-Has been a mayor and a Governor rather than just a community organizer so she has had actual responsibilities before.
*It’s amusing to hear republicans continually laud the efforts of a community organizer. Having a budget of $400,000 and 13 people working for him isn’t exactly lacking in responsibility. Neither is establishing job training and college prep programs. But if that does not represent enough experience then perhaps being editor of the most prestigious law review in the country, a civil rights attorney, a state senator or a US senator will help. You seem to ignore the fact that she was a mayor of a town of 6000 and a governor of a state with 600,000. A US senator at least is aware of issues both nationally and internationally. I don’t think seeing Russia from your backyard counts as “experience”.
[A review in geography, from Palin’ backyard. SHE CAN’T SEE RUSSIA! It’s too far away. Hope you know that. Being a Governor you have more experience in the likes of a President because you actually have to make big decisions and you have the power to kill a bill based on your sole decision. Obama has only sponsored and passed 2 bills that I could find. Palin has, un-questionably, been in far more control of more money than Obama ever has and has done very well doing so. By being a community organizer he did things that people could do for themselves like your mentioned actions plus one of my own. He got people registered to vote. Wow! Anyone can do so, and it’s very easy I might add. It’s open to anyone who meets certain minimal requirements, which aren’t difficult at all. Now he is trying to get felons to vote so I guess that’s an accomplishment since that is illegal. Why should they vote I ask. Again Russia can’t be seen from Palin’ back yard so drop that line and look at a map.]
-Is not a celebrity senator but rather a humble and understand compassionate Governor.
*No, she is a celebrity governor and currently the biggest celebrity on the campaign trail. Whether she is “humble and understand compassionate Governor” is an opinion. Those that were targeted after they supported her opponent during her run for mayor might disagree.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin#First_term
[She could be called the biggest celebrity in the campaign currently because she is the first true conservative Republican in a long time and that’s gets us bible thumping, gun clinging, trailer owning Republicans very excited. She is also the most attacked person currently so that could have just a bit, understatement, to do with all of the talk that is about her. Secondly, that is a wikipedia article, and everyone knows that anyone can say anything on wikipedia as long as some people agree. No professor in any University will take wikipedia as a source of truth. An editorial article is more valid that wikipedia since you can actually trace the source. Maybe we should add that NE article there since some people believe it. If that article is true, on wikipedia, I don’t blame her. When you’re in office you want people who are with you to help you run a city. If they are against you then you will get nowhere. I will leave it at that.]
-An excellent example of a woman who has surpassed the “tie-downs” that society has placed on her because of her gender.
*First female governor in Alaska is great progress. Of course, she isn’t breaking any new ground but I think it’s great that women are making such progress in all facets of life. Good thing we have liberals out there that fought for the rights of women despite the efforts of conservatives to keep them back.
[Not breaking any new ground? Really? When did the last female vice president run for office after being nominated by her party? Fill my in on that one. Oh yeah and the liberals fighting for the rights of women, how? When? I am sorry but the suffrage movement was not credited to your party. A great number of the head women involved in this movement were conservative. We are not talking about feminism here. How exactly have conservatives held them back?
As back up to this I would like to let you know that just because Obama touts his fairness you should know that McCain pays and employs far more than Obama despite Obama’ significantly higher campaign funds. McCain’ and Obama’ statistics are listed below as reported by the Boston Herald.
“McCain's 17 male staffers split $916,914, thus averaging $53,936. His 25 female employees divided $1,396,958 and averaged $55,878.
On average, according to these data, women in McCain's office make $1.04 for every dollar a man makes. In fact, all other things being equal, a typical female staffer could earn 21 cents more per dollar paid to her male counterpart - while adding $10,726 to her annual income - by leaving Obama's office and going to work for McCain.
How could this be?
One explanation could be that women compose a majority of McCain's highest-paid aides. Among his top-five best-compensated staffers, three are women. Of his 20-highest-salaried employees, 13 are women. The Republican presidential nominee relies on women - much more than men - for advice at the highest, and thus, best-paid levels.
Obama's 28 male staffers divided among themselves total payroll expenditures of $1,523,120. Thus, Obama's average male employee earned $54,397.
Obama's 30 female employees split $1,354,580 among themselves, or $45,152, on average.
Why this disparity? One reason may be the under-representation of women in Obama's highest-compensated ranks. Among Obama's five best-paid advisers, only one was a woman. Among his top 20, seven were women.”
I guess I will let that speak for itself. Here is the link so you can see for yourself.

-Is not a socialist and understand that an economy is, in its very definition, and ecosystem that needs capitalism and can’t run without big and small business.
*I assume you’re implying that Obama is a socialist, but he has not proposed a single un-capitalist idea. He simply wants to tilt the tax burden back a little in favor of the bottom 90% and tilt government spending back a little towards programs that help the individual, not military contractors.
[Yes I am actually. Here are a number of links you should check out. He speaks very deceptively and has a really good habit of weaseling around the question.

The above is particularly interesting, especially the questioners facts. Just listen.
http://www.fff.org/blog/jghblog2008-06-12.asp
I think you all will agree that Obama has many extreme socialist ideas.
Tilting the “tax burden” will not answer a single question to the economic crisis. Maybe these people who are so burdened with taxes, you, me, our parents, and everyone else in this country, should just buy according to what we can actually afford and cut the excessive spending of the Governments. Military spending is very necessary right now anyways since the surge is working and we were able to bring self-government to millions of people. If you want to talk excessive spending maybe we should kill this Bush proposed and Democrat adopted and pushed bail out bill that’s going to run $700,000,000,000-$1,000,000,000,000. I had to actually show you how many zeros are really there. Talk about excessive spending that will and is full of earmarks. Our greed should not take over so easily. I will elaborate on this a bit later.
Just so you know, Exxon paid more in taxes last year than the entire bottom half of the United States. I think they pay enough and maybe the bottom 50% should work harder or spend less. I also think we should tighten the reigns on government healthcare and welfare so we can restore it to a state that brings people back up. Right now it creates freeloaders a large percentage of the time. With it there is no incentive to go out and do something.
One last thing I can’t leave out is who Obama’ father mentor was. Obama's father figure mentor was Frank Marshall Davis, leader of the Communist Group USA. Just check this out. I don’t know if you will be able to view it but just search its points and Frank Marshall.

*Again, that is a big implication. Restoring taxes back to the way they were 8 years ago isn’t exactly “taxing us to death”.
[You say this with the most light-hearted words. Going back 8 years ago will not give us nationalized healthcare, an absurd bail out bill, and nationalized banks. Maybe you want to give away a lot of your money to the government, who does an already wonderful job spending it in the craziest ways, but I want to keep what I worked incredibly hard for. You don’t deserve any of my money and that goes for everyone out there. Hard work goes a long way. No taxation without representation!]
There you have it. That’s my list of Sarah Palin facts that make her one of the greatest candidates in the current race. Don’t hate her because she is everything that Obama says he stands for. Seriously consider this, she is young, pretty, articulate, inspirational, a woman, and has actually held positions of power and voted more than “present” on many occasions. Palin can take our nation, with McCain, back to the shining prosperous light that it once was.
*I think you play fast and loose with the term “fact”. I also wonder why you fail to mention that she has spewed a steady stream of lies since joining the campaign. Does it not bother you now that she is going to refuse to cooperate with the investigation into her wrongdoing with Troopergate? Does it not bother you that she lacks any foreign policy experience? That she constantly says “thanks, but no thanks” when it’s nowhere close to being true? She’s still building that thing for god’s sake.
[Again I don’t have much to say here because I explained and cleared all of this up many times earlier. If you forgot just start reading this all over.]
Next issue at hand is the current credit and economic crisis that is directly caused by the sub-prime mortgages that were lent out to people who should never have been able to by a house in the first place. Most individuals, with a few exceptions, rent till they are well into their 20’s and low 30’s until they have saved up enough money to properly be able to afford a house of their own. Owning a house is not a given right it’s a privilege of hard work and careful planning.
*I agree. Another 10 years and you and I can start looking for houses….
[I disagree. When we have the money and can AFFORD a house payment, that’s not 50% of out monthly income, then yes we can start searching. The government, namely democrats, did not believe this though. They think that it’s the right of every American to own a house regardless if they can comfortably pay for it. That’s how sub-prime mortgages came into play. Banks were forced to lend them out with the risk of penalty if they did not. That’s why they are going under. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, combined, hold over 50% of American mortgages and all of those mortgages are insured as well so the bank won’t go under if a few collapse. This is where AIG comes in to play. They insured millions of homes and now that the homeowners can’t make the payments AIG is having, or was, to fork over the money to the mortgage companies to keep them afloat. When that many houses cant be paid off they eventually loose money and too much means they loose liquidity. Americans who are guilty of this are at fault as well for making a very stupid choice that is now endangering millions of people if not billions.]
Senator McCain co-sponsored a bill back in ’05 named the Federal Housing Regulatory Reform Act of 2005. This bill directly addressed the concerns McCain was having over the forged applications that were being drawn up by Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae. He stated, paraphrased here, that these companies were headed down a road that would lead the American economy into a crisis if these mortgage companies were not regulated properly.
*McCain has consistently been against regulations, which is a typical republican stance. Which makes sense since his former chief economic advisor, Phil Gramm, was responsible for the de-regulation of the energy market and created the Enron loophole. That worked out well.
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/17/huckabee-market-correction/
[Take a look at this and don’t try to skirt the issue here.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record.xpd?id=109-s20060525-16
It’s the regulations that got us here in the first place. The requirement to lend sub-prime mortgages! Does this not make sense? The Democrats, for the most part, created this crisis and don’t want to step up to the plate and take blame. They now want to pass a hugely inappropriate bail out bill that is full of earmarks for their friends and themselves. Obama has a $100 million earmark in their now for his acorn foundation.
Yes the typical republican stance is to have less regulation and if it would have been that way the free market would have won and this crisis would not be happening right not. The only reason that it did not is because the Democrats were in bed with the mortgage, insurance, and investment companies. I am not saying that a few lewd Republicans weren’t involved but by FAR it was the democrats.
You can’t allow the market to correct itself if it’s being controlled from some other entity. Now McCain, and many other Republicans see the need to regulate these companies in order that they will continue and hopefully rise out of this mess.]
Freddie and Fannie are so intertwined in the government that they were also in the pockets of many Democrats and a few Republicans.
*I love the loaded statement. The two companies have donated millions to both republicans and democrats. When republicans controlled congress, they received more. Now that democrats control congress, they get more. That would constitute more than just a “few” republicans.
[Here is where you’re wrong again. Take a look at this again and I will continue.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record.xpd?id=109-s20060525-16
Consider this also. Obama had only been in the Senate for 3 years.
http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/09/update-fannie-mae-and-freddie.html
Yes democrats and Republicans both received money, but look who runs the senate, and house, and is running a presidential campaign. I find it surprising that they are all at the top of the list. It is also interesting that the democrats that are at the top of the list continually voted down any sort of regulation or investigation into these companies that are today ruining our economy because of their greedy lobbying. I hope it is beginning to sink in now. Oh yeah two of Obama’ economic advisors were in with the companies, but you don’t hear about this on in the news. You might say that Barney Frank, making 90 million in 6 years while he was with Fannie Mae, is not an economic adviser but he has given Obama economic advice according to the Washington Post. I just don’t get how you can still trust his economic stance on anything.
Read this article and enlighten yourself.
http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx
Now there have been recent allegations of McCain’ campaign managers firm having ties with Fannie Mae. Rick Davis is the man in question and Davis Manafort is the company that he used to be apart of that was receiving $15,000 a month from Fannie Mae. The truth is that Davis has not been apart of this firm since 2006 when he released himself from the company. He has not received a penny of money from Davis Manafort since 2006; where Obama has received his money from them in the past 3 years. Katie Couric, my favorite truthful journalist, asked Palin in a recent interview about these allegations. How ridiculous! How would this pertain to Palin? How would she have anything to do with it? Plus Davis has not been a part of the company in question since 2006. No wonder the media complains that they don’t know Palin. I would keep Palin away from the media as well if those are they types of questions that they ask. They don’t want to actually get to know here they just want to have her stumble and then watch her fall.]
These massive companies lobbied most of these congressmen and senators for lower requirements for mortgage approvals. In McCain’ bill he addresses the faulty mortgage apps that were cheated so that the company executives could achieve their bonus numbers. This money was going directly into the executive’s pockets that then returned a large part of the money to their congressmen and senators as a favor. Do you know who were the top two recipients of these handouts? #1 Senator Dodd and #2 Senator Obama! Obama was the #2 top recipient of monetary handouts even though he had only been in the Senate for 3 years. Come on people this is pretty obvious here.
*What is obvious? Obama has always been for more regulation, which does not help these two companies. Of course, maybe you can explain to a simple person like myself what exactly the hundred grand bought them.
[Really? Why would he vote down McCain’ bill to regulate these companies even with the information that McCain had against them. He never made a lasting effort to do anything about the “book cooking” that was going on in these companies. A president needs to be able to act in a pro-active way and step up and lead. Two things Obama has never done.
Regarding the $126,000, not just a hundred grand, that Obama received. That’s a ton of money in three years as handouts. Lets just say that it was split even among the 3 yeas. That would come to $42,000 a year which will buy a house, pay for the car payment of a Bentley, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and many other exotic cars. Needless to say that’s a lot of money. Just think what you cold do with $42,000 extra a year. I would venture to say that you don’t make $42,000 a year. That’s not a jab at you just putting that amount into perspective. That’s a lot of money to give to someone just because you like their smile.]
Just yesterday Obama was blaming the credit crisis and takeover of the many banks, mortgage companies, and investment companies on McCain and the Republicans. Please! This man, Obama, is nothing more than a lying cheat who smooth talks through his teleprompter to win over people who, for the most part, have no idea what he believes or any knowledge of his past record.
*Again, you like to throw out statements with nothing to back it up. But I’m not surprised since this is the style of the republican candidates. A good site is:
http://factcheck.org/. You should try visiting it sometime and educate yourself.
[I did and I found out that you haven’t as much as you say. I also don’t just rely on one site to get the truth. You have to cross check whatever you find today. Just check out this

Besides even if they were correct here they are liberally biased, not to the degree of msnbc or cbs but they are biased. I will refresh you on the article in particular that I am talking about.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html ]
As for Obama and his tax ideas, they’re ludicrous. Tax the rich and help the middle class all while increasing government and government spending and mandating how we should live our lives. Where do you think this money is going to come from people! I know there is no way that you could tax the rich enough to take care of the proposals that Obama is talking about. The “rich” will no longer be “rich and their large business will cease to be and have you forgotten what is going on right now?
*Perhaps you have forgotten the prosperity that the US experienced during the 1990s. Bush has done a pretty good job of erasing that from our memory. But to clarify things, Obama wants to return to those previous levels, not reach for the heights following WWII. More reaching with no basis in reality.
[Take a look at these.

I think that’s enough for now.
The Prosperity of the ‘90’s was not bad I agree with that, but you have to take into context what was happening. By reading the above articles you will understand.]
Rather he is going to raise the price of gas, on many levels, through the Democrats newly passed “comprehensive” energy bill, force you to buy vehicles that are twice as expensive and use more energy to create than most use in a lifetime, increase the death tax, provide a large tax burden with his national/socialized healthcare, and bankrupt many energy companies in his implementation of the new energy bill.
*McCain won’t even make such absurd claims. And he lies all the time. Do you have anything to back up these statements? Oh, factcheck.org has a little something to say.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/gop_convention_spin_part_ii.html
[Again I don’t agree with them much but since you do here you go.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/factchecking_obama.html
Take a look at the new energy bill that they just passed and that will clear it up a bit. I don’t have “proof” that gas prices will raise but it logically makes sense according to his oil company tax ideas and their new energy bill.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20060408/news_lz1dd8takes.html
http://www.leftlanenews.com/study-a-hybrid-consumes-more-energy-in-lifetime-than-a-hummer.html ]
The middle class will not have lower taxes at all. This is not possible unless Obama and the Dems can invent a new kind of math. Just do the math yourself if you don’t believe me.
*Ooh, same factcheck link
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/gop_convention_spin_part_ii.html
[Let me reword myself here. The middle class will not gain more from Obama and his ideas than they would with McCain. Consider healthcare, taxes, gas, and jobs here.]
He doesn’t understand the most basic principles of economy at all. There are many people who would rather start up a small business with the money that they pay in taxes, which would then create more jobs thus increasing the overall tax dollars that congress will have. One thing that Democrats don’t understand is the idea that lowering taxes creates jobs and spending while increasing the overall tax dollars going to congress. This is much more effective than increasing taxes for the business leaders who will then cut employment to make ends meet thus taking many able bodied people out of the tax equation. Socialism is what he preaches and that is not an exaggeration. His ideas are based on Marxist principles and that’s it.
*What I think you fail to realize is the philosophy you describe above is what we’ve been doing for the last 8 years. How’s that working out for you? I don’t like it.
[Well it’s working for me and I work. I have been and my family does. It’s been great but I still don’t think it’s perfect. Bush is too moderate for me but his ideas have, for the most part, been good. Also what I described earlier is not at all what we have been practicing for the past 8 years. I don’t know what economy you live in but I like the sound of it.]
I know many of you will hate this and will probably have a word or two to say but you can’t deny these facts.
*Hahaha….denied
[Hahahahaha…..owned!]
If that’s what you choose to do please don’t vote because you are the greatest disease in America today. Understand what you vote for and all of its implications. Simply voting for a man because he gives you goose bumps is not an academic reason/rational reason for believing him.
*Yes, heaven forbid, if you’re not going to vote republican, please don’t vote. Disease? A bit strong. I understand why I vote the way I do. I will debate you on the issues but I’ll try to refrain from school yard name calling. The remark above insinuates that if anyone doesn’t vote Republican they are wrong. Have you ever thought to look up the facts. I am not trying to say that the Obama/Biden ticket is perfect but I see many flaws in your argument.
[Are you agreeing with me here? I don’t really get it “Yes, heaven forbid, if you’re not going to vote republican, please don’t vote.” What are you saying? If it’s what I think I agree wholeheartedly.
Now I have to explain myself here very carefully because many people are choosing to take it in a way I did not mean. First read the two sentences following the one where I mentioned “greatest disease in America.” How does that sound now? I will let you know what it means. If you are ignorant to the issues in this election DON’T vote. If you understand them then by all means cast your ballot to whichever party you choose. If I meant to say that democrats should not vote because they are the greatest disease in America I would have! I will say things how I mean them so don’t try to screw with what I say. I have plenty of friends who are democrats for various reasons but they usually know the issues and vote based on a set of beliefs different to mine. Although I don’t agree with it they are friends and that comes first. I am sure that many find me crazy and frankly I don’t care. I can’t stand people who vote one way and have no idea why besides saying, “he is cool” or “he stands for change.”]
It’s amazing what a little hard work will do for the economy and have you ever considered that our taxes are not the government’s money but ours? Yes, this money is for our elected officials to, theoretically, spend in a manner that we approve and that best benefits us. It’s not their right to receive it. Why give up your hard earned money just to be told what to do and have more restrictions placed on your life? Think about it.
*I have and I agree but do not think you help your cause with this statement (see link). http://www.lewrockwell.com/gregory/gregory40.html
[This link is a biased libertarian opinion of the government where much has been taken out of context or, again, twisted with bits and pieces of truth thrown in so it sounds like a feasible essay. I believe that Government has to be present but they should serve the people and their best interest.]
*I hope that none of these comments are taken as personal attacks and I hope that this brings a means to constructive criticism of both the Republican and Democratic candidates.
[I also hope that none of my comments are taken as personal attacks although I can see where they could be. I get fired up about politics and can’t stand to see our country headed down a road of destruction. I believe America is the greatest nation on earth and that we have a duty to take care of the countries that are not able to take care of themselves. It is the liberal world and Americas backstabbing liberal media that has created this persona of the USA as a tyrant. I pray that the age of media as we know it is soon dead. They have too much power and are too biased with their reporting. Americans deserve the truth and nothing but the truth.]
I have added you to my blog roll.
Try not to let this campaign bother you too much. It was almost a foregone conclusion that Obama would win, given the wide-spread and unapologetic bias almost all of the National Media has for Obama.
Like all can see on the Daily Kos or Huffington Post, the MSM has followed suit with the politics of personal destruction. When caught in their lies, even former icons like the New York Times or NBC, will ignore the facts, or say as much as “so what” we were mainly right.
Just know that much more will be done by them, and we are all in peril because of it.

Evolution is one of the most established reliable and robust theories we have. In layman’s terms it is a ‘fact’. It is supported by many thousands of converging lines of evidence. Francis Collins, head of the human genome project and a devout Christian has stressed that even without the fossil record, the genetic evidence establishes our common ancestry without a shadow of a doubt,
Intelligent Design is ‘not even wrong’. It does not propose an alternative hypothesis for us to test. Instead it attempts to spread FUD by poking holes in evolutionary theory and then says ‘insert miracle here’. These alleged holes have been explained patiently and emphatically. See Talkorigins.org for complete coverage.
It is important to not that there is NO controversy within the scientific community, and thus no controversy to teach in science lessons. The increasingly lunatic ID mod explain this by positing a vast global conspiracy to ‘fix’ the scientific consensus for financial gain. What is more likely? That the WHOLE WORLD’s scientists have fudged the self-correcting and transparent scientific method, or that Intelligent Design is bad science?
Children have a right to be taught science in science class. That is why it is wrong to teach ID in science classes.

Got to the point of “What is wrong with teaching intelligent design in public schools? Evolution, no matter how you say it or what you find, is NOT proven to be true. Does it hurt you to possibly consider or have others consider something different than what you think?” and realized that there is no point in reading further. The quip about offshore drilling being beneficial for marine life is also a hoot. Got to be a poe.

Thank you Jorg, by saying that you quit reading once you disagreed with the post, for proving my theory that many Liberals (though very vocal about “tolerance”) are the least tolerant people in America. They also cannot handle thinking about something that might be different than the dribble that the liberal media has brainwashed you with.
I find that my “close minded conservative” friends are always more eager to discuss the different view points and bounce them around in their brains in an effort to improve their view on life. They seem to be just fine listening to someone who might not hold their same point of view and debating the different opinions. I find that my “tolerant, open minded liberal” friends seem to get upset and shut you down with personal attacks if you don’t agree with them. Emotion seems to be more important than actual facts and anger is usually the emotion brough forth by any thought produced by a conservative. Yes, this is a generalization but since I was in an arts-oriented major and had many liberal friends and found this to be the case more often than not, I do not hesitate to make such a sweeping generalization.
Thank you for the comment.
