God is moving. I’ve been in a “weird” spiritual place the past two years trying to recover from a semester that left me hurt by three of my closest friends (not only their fault…my overdramatic reactions fueled the fire). While all of these relationships have been healed and all is well, I felt like my faith, which was shaken more than ever before, seemed to only grow a bit while I fought to hold on to what was left.
Oddly enough the semester that tore me apart came only months after the moment in my life that I felt that I was most ’spiritually mature’ … I still fell for Satan’s lies.
Anyway, I want to share an eye opening quote with you. This was presented to me in John Piper’s THE PLEASURES OF GOD. It has really opened up my eyes to a spot in which I am most blind. I hope you find it helpful as well. It made me pause and focus on what I truly delight in and in what I find pleasure.
” The love of God is a delightful and affectionate sense of the divine perfections which makes the soul resign and sacrifice itself wholly unto him, desiring above all thigs to please him, and delighting in nothing so much as in fellowship and communion with him, and being ready to do or suffer anything for his sake or at his pleasure. “
*Henry Scougal (1677 – Scotland)
This is simply beautiful.
Peace and Blessings.
